The Parish Council set up this virtual notice board as a place to share information with local residents about what to do at times of flood.

Flood Forum Meeting

An open forum meeting was held on 12th March 2026 to share experiences about flooding and to help the community and individuals plan for future responses to flooding.

Flood Risk Management Interventions in Harberton Parish

Following flooding events that affected residents of both Harberton and Harbertonford in September 2023, Devon County Council and the Environment Agency have been working together to identify potential Flood Risk Management interventions. Members of the community are understandably keen to be kept in touch with this. A summary update was shared with the Parish Council in March 2026 as a means to keep people informed about the work in progress.

Being an area susceptible to flooding caused by sudden, intense rainfall over a short period of time, Devon County Council has provided material to share with the community to raise awareness of the risks of flash flooding.   This includes:

2023 Flood event

Please follow the link to find Section 19 Flood Investigation Report for the 17th September 2023 Floods, as published by Devon County Council. The purpose of this report is to document the flood event as it happened, in addition to setting out recommended actions. The report is to act as a tool for all the relevant Risk Management Authorities to understand and appreciate the extent of flooding in their area and to consider and prioritise those actions relevant to their authority.
